The Most Common Sport Injuries for Track and Field Players

Abstract

The most common sport injuries for track and field players, the purpose of the current study was to investigate the most common sport injuries for the Arab track and field player according to gender, and activity (throwing, track, and jumping) in addition to the most exposed body parts to injury, injury time and the important causes. The sample consisted of 84 players (49 males and 35 females) representing the different Arab countries participating in the championship. A sheet for the study purpose was developed frequencies, percentages and chi-square were performed. Results indicated that the most common injury among the arab track and field players according to activity was throwing, jumping and track injuries. No significant differences were observed according to gender and the injuries occur mostly in the training time. The most injury cause was over training which did not fulfill the physiological and physical requirements. The researchers recommended to consider the study results (especially by coaches) to provide adequate warm-up and to give more importance for safe and technical skills performance in the composite movements.
